Aguirre is, as you know, one of my all time favorites.Christinahttp://www.comeonshore.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2818827929187629416.post-37937626431394716972009-05-05T22:06:00.000-04:002009-05-05T22:06:00.000-04:00Yes, absolutely insane. Then there's Nosferatu, in which Kinski shows all these pale, moony adolescents these days what a real vampire is all about.

I believe Herzog shot the whole film in three months, and for that final shot, he had all the crew on rafts just like the one Aguirre is standing on. You're right that you can taste the madness all around. I swear, I wouldn't be surprised if, after the finished the shot, Kinski must have grabbed another monkey and ate the thing!Henriette Lazaridis Powerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13852038371500103959noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2818827929187629416.post-50353979093261423312009-05-05T21:56:00.000-04:002009-05-05T21:56:00.000-04:00Oh man, Kinski is nuts. And so is Herzog. Aguirre ...Oh man, Kinski is nuts. And so is Herzog. Aguirre is a film student's wet dream. I remember that final scene well. You can taste the madness, not just of Aguierre, but of Herzog dragging cast and crew into mountains and down rivers. Breaking the Waves because it was such a powerful film that I haven't been able to make myself watch it again in case it wasn't as good as I remembered .. also an extraordinary performance by Emily Watson. And Destry because it's a wonderfully sharp, comic film (and maybe also the film Mel Brooks would have liked to make when he made Blazing Saddles instead).Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2818827929187629416.post-53708013865410502742009-05-03T16:21:00.000-04:002009-05-03T16:21:00.000-04:00Are these favorite films?
